Design By Humans makes use of screen printing and direct-to-garment printing processes on its varied collection of T-shirts. DBH Collectives use direct-to-garment printing technology, while DBH Daily Shirt of the Day winners are produced using screen printing. Direct-to-garment printing is a process of printing using specialized or modified inkjet technology. The specialty inks are applied directly onto the textile and absorbed by the fibers. The upside of this automated technique is that it can print on lots of different colors. These T-shirts are printed as demanded, one at a time. Screen-printed shirts are more limited in color palette but allow for an all-over print. Screen printing uses woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. A roller is moved across the stencil to press the ink through the woven mesh into the open areas that form the design. This is a fast way to make hundreds of identical shirts in a short timespan.
Does it ever! Instead of having your scroll through a tediously long chart of T-shirt sizes and measurements, Design By Humans makes looking up your size really easy. The website's size chart has a drop-down tool that you can use to pick out what you're looking for: boy's T-shirt, girl's T-shirt, men's T-shirt, women's T-shirt, pullover sweatshirt, jersey, etc. Then you'll see a simple breakdown of the widths and lengths for the different sizes available for the shirt type. You can even select whether you want the measurements to be in metric or standard.
There are 2 methods that Design By Humans uses to put original products on the site. The first and most common is through the DBH Collective store. You can apply online for a store and, if approved, you can upload your artwork to sell on apparel, phone cases, and art prints. The second method involves DBH's Special Contests, put on periodically throughout the year. Any artist can upload their artwork for voting by the general community. The best artwork is then chosen for printing by DBH. These contests are themed around a certain topic and receive hundreds of submissions from artists all around the world.
