Working in an online-based company, you’d be surprised how much printer ink this office goes through. Between tax documents and stacks of paperwork for onboarding new hires, let me tell you: the cost of printer ink and toner really adds up.
Thanks to Staples’ price-match policy and frequent discounts, we never pay full price when it comes time to replace a cartridge. Since we’ve done the legwork ourselves to uncover the best ways to save on printer ink and toner at Staples, we decided to pay it forward and show you how to save on name-brand products like HP, Canon, Epson, Dell, and Brother.

Join the Staples Rewards Program for Ink Savings
If you go through a lot of printer ink or other office supplies, you should consider joining the Staples Rewards program if you haven’t already. It’s free to sign up, and members get free shipping on orders over $14.99 and earn up to 5% in rewards points on almost everything in the store (excluding postage, phone and gift cards, and savings passes).
As for printer ink perks, the program rewards members with $2 back in points on each recycled ink or toner cartridge, but to qualify for recycling points, you have to spend a minimum of $30 on ink or toner at Staples every 180 days.
Cartridges can be recycled at your local Staples or you can request a shipping box by clicking “Get Started” on the sign-up page if you’d prefer to avoid a trip. You can recycle up to 10 per calendar month, but that threshold goes up to 20 per month if you spend more than $500 in a year.
And because of Staples’ price-match guarantee, even non-members know they’re getting the lowest prices. If you find a competitor with a lower price, Staples will match and beat it by 10%. To get the lower price, simply stop by the customer service desk or call 800-333-3330.
Find & Submit Rebates for Your Ink Purchases
Rebates provide another path to savings at Staples. If you’ve made a recent purchase or are planning to buy something at Staples, visit the Find Rebates page to see if the item you want is currently eligible for a rebate.
Even if the exact item you’re looking at doesn’t have a rebate, doing a product keyword search on “ink” or “toner” could turn up savings on similar products. Rebates are paid via Staples Visa Prepaid Card that you can put toward your next shopping trip.
