Sports Authority offers a laidback return policy because certain sports apparel and equipment just don’t work out. You shouldn’t hesitate to shop at because online returns are just as simple as in-store returns.

We’ll show you how to return your Sports Authority purchase either online or in-store.

You Can Return Your Sports Authority Merchandise Within 30 Days of Purchase or Delivery

If you’re unhappy with your purchase, you can take back most unused, unopened merchandise within 30 days of purchase (or 30 days of delivery for online orders) for a refund or exchange.

How to Return Your Purchase

You have the option to return your items to any Sports Authority location or send them back by mail if you placed an online order. Sports Authority requires you to show your receipt (or packing slip/order confirmation email for online orders) when making a return.

Option #1: In-store Returns

To return your merchandise in-store, just bring in your items (including all parts, accessories, and packaging) to the nearest Sports Authority store location, and a store employee will be happy to help you out.

Sports Authority accepts merchandise in original condition within 30 days of purchase or delivery.

Option #2: Online Returns

If you wish to send your items back by mail, Sports Authority provides a pre-paid return label with each online order. Simply follow these instructions below so you can quickly get your money back or an exchange.

  1. Pack up your merchandise in the original box.
  2. Fill out the Return Reason Questionnaire (located on the packing slip).
  3. Place the included return label on the outside of the package.
  4. Drop your return off at a U.S. Postal Service, UPS, or FedEx location.

Once the return is processed, you’ll receive your refund or exchange within 1 billing cycle (e.g., about 30 days).


Some items are non-refundable, such as firearms and ammunition, bats (if opened), customized products and collectibles, electronic media, athletic supporters, mouth guards, gas scooters, pools, swimwear, and undergarments. Sports Authority will refuse any of these returns.
