I always set out to get my holiday shopping done by mid-November. Every. Single. Year. But I’m usually still hunting around for deals after Black Friday has come and gone. By mid-December, I inevitably find better prices on some of the gifts I’ve managed to purchase, but I don’t have to worry about missing a better deal on those bought at Target.
Target does match prices with competitor ads for the same item, and Target will even match lower online prices from select competitors. Below I’ll review some ways to guarantee savings on your next haul — from price matching in stores to getting even better deals online.
1. Target’s Price Match Policy Guarantees Online Savings
Target compares prices on over 25,000 items, so it really pays off to keep an eye out for online competitor deals that come in lower than those at Target.com. Customers can either request price matches at the time of or within 14 days after the purchase.
There are 29 online retailers that qualify for price matching under Target’s policy. A select competitors list can be found online or requested in person at the store.
And it’s not just competitors that qualify for price matching at Target.com. Customers who purchased qualifying merchandise at a Target store but find it for less at Target.com can have prices lowered if the request falls within the 14-day adjustment period.
2. Target Matches In-Store Prices of Competitor Print Ads
It’s not just online where Target customers can have prices adjusted to match better competitor deals. Customers can also bring in proof of competitor print deals to their local Target stores to get lower prices. What’s great is that almost any current competitor print ad is eligible for a price match.
If local ads are in digital format, no problem. Customers can still have prices matched in-store by pulling the ads up on their mobile devices for proof of price.
Target makes the process very convenient, as price matches and adjustments can be completed at all of the register lanes in its stores. If customers find a better deal at the store after making a purchase at Target.com, they can call Guest Services at 800-591-3869 to have prices adjusted.
For both online and in-store price matching, the items in question must be identical in brand, size, weight, color, quantity, and model number. Items must also be in stock at the time of purchase to qualify for the price adjustment.
3. Black Friday & Other Holiday Exemptions
Target has great deals on Black Friday, and customers can sign up at Target.com to receive the latest news on these and other holiday deals. But because the bargains at Target are so great on shopping holidays like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, price matching is not available on these days.
Other exclusions to price matching include clearance, closeout, liquidation sale, damaged, used, open package, or rent/lease-to-own items. Customers can use manufacturer coupons after a price match is made; however, Target gift card offers and coupons cannot be combined with price matching.
4. Use Our Deals Instead of Relying on Price Adjustments
Price matching definitely works to ensure great deals on some items at Target. But it’s sometimes difficult to take the time from busy schedules to weed through competitor ads. That’s why you should peruse our Target coupons before looking at other savings opportunities — our coupons regularly feature deals that beat out the savings afforded by price matching.
We scour the ‘net to bring you the most current coupons, with updates to the list hourly, so check back frequently to see how much you can save.
Savings in Hand with Price Matching & Coupons
I’m hoping this year is different, and I’ll get my holiday shopping done well before mid-December. Either way, I will definitely be employing price matching as a strategy to save big at my neighborhood Target and online at Target.com.
But before going the price matching route, check our Target store page because you may find it’ll save you time and money. Now that you’re an expert on price matching and couponing at Target, get out there and hit the aisles. Like me, you may not get your shopping done in time for the holidays, but you’ll be sure to save money.
